Introduction to the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences
بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم
Veterinary Sciences are one of the most valuable branches of agricultural sciences, playing a broad and effective role at both national and international levels in reducing food insecurity, poverty, and disease. This field holds special importance in the economic development of countries through agriculture and livestock. Particularly in regions where livestock is the main source of income and a vital economic resource, veterinary science has critical significance. Based on this need, at the national level and especially for the southwestern region, the expansion of veterinary sciences was strongly required. As a national agricultural university, the Afghanistan National Agricultural Sciences and Technology University was obliged to have extensive activities in veterinary sciences alongside agriculture and animal husbandry.
The Veterinary Medicine program is a professional course in which students gain full familiarity with the veterinary profession through theoretical knowledge, laboratory work, practical training, clinical practice, and fieldwork. Students apply their knowledge and skills in animal health, production, and public health protection. The Faculty of Veterinary Sciences was approved in 2019 (1398 in the solar calendar) within the framework of the Afghanistan National Agricultural Sciences and Technology University, and in 2020 (1399 solar calendar) the first cohort of students was admitted through the national entrance exam (Kankor).
