Introduction to the Department of Basic Sciences

The Department of Basic Sciences officially started its activity in the late of 1404 at ANASTU in Faculty of Veterinary Sciences to train the students to the level of bachelor degree. Furthermore, to meet the challenges exist in official affairs of the department, scientific and technical programs are implemented so that modern and international activities would have been done in the department. Currently, the department has 8 lecturers who have bachelor and master degrees from interior and foreign universities in the field of basic sciences.
Vision
The Department of Basic Sciences strives to create a scientific environment that fosters innovation, research, and critical thinking to play a vital role in strengthening and advancing agricultural and natural sciences.
Mission
The mission of the Department of Basic Sciences is to provide students with fundamental and applied knowledge in basic sciences, to build a strong scientific foundation for agricultural disciplines, and to promote a culture of research, innovation, and analytical thinking.
Goals
1. To teach the fundamental concepts of basic sciences in alignment with the needs of agricultural disciplines.
2. To enhance students’ analytical, research, and creative abilities.
3. To create a conducive environment for scientific research and applied projects.
4. To promote academic ethics, teamwork, and a sense of professional responsibility.
5. To improve the quality of teaching through modern technologies and innovative approaches.

Action Report
• Prepared the proposal and accomplished the necessary procedures for the establishment of the Department of Basic Sciences in the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences.
• Taught Basic Sciences related courses at the four faculties: Veterinary Sciences, Plant Sciences, Animal Sciences, and Agricultural Economics and Extension.
• Presented and participated in professional development programs and scientific conferences.
• During the past year, two faculty members graduated with Master's degrees, while two faculty members were nominated and enrolled in Master's degree programs.
• Instructors of English language and Computer voluntarily organized an English language course for students.
The academic staff of the Department of Basic Sciences actively participated in committees, academic programs, and meetings at the department, faculty, and university levels.
