Introduction to the Department of Agribusiness

The Agribusiness Department, within the academic framework of the Faculty of Agriculture at Kandahar University, began admitting students in the solar year 1396 (2017). So far, the department has graduated a total of 95 skilled and innovative students at the bachelor’s level across five cohorts, who are expected to serve as an important source of service for their beloved country. Currently, the department has six experienced lecturers holding master’s degrees, who, in addition to teaching, are actively involved in various scientific, academic, and research activities. In the solar year 1399 (2020), the Faculty of Agriculture at Kandahar University was separated from its previous structure and integrated into the National University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Afghanistan. Following this change, the Faculty of Agriculture was divided into three separate faculties: the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Development, the Faculty of Plant Sciences, and the Faculty of Animal Sciences. The Agribusiness Department is currently part of the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Development.

Agri-business department will be a leading academic institution to resolve societal needs by offering a market-driven degree program in the country.
Mission
Agri-business department draws its curriculum based on market needs, trying to train and educate students in various fields such as marketing for the Agri-products, marketing planning, business planning and management oriented subjects, while keeping the societal needs in mind.
Goals
Assessing and evaluating the essential and critical conditions of agribusiness transactions.
Conducting Internal and external marketing researches for agricultural products.
Bringing productive and collaborative environment between the market and farmers.
To provide appropriate environment, in order to encourage lecturers and students to work together and achieve department objectives.

Strategic Plan
In order to achieve the objectives and carry out all actions in the specified time. The department prepared its 5 years (1402-1406) strategic plan following the previous 5 years plan of the faculty and university to gain experiences. According to this plan, all day-to-day, normal and developmental affairs have been arranged based on the needs and by looking at the possibilities and needs of the university, looking at the development and development of science and technology and by analyzing in-depth research.
Action Plan
• Semester-wise planning by taking into account the strategic plan to achieve the department's 100 goals.
• Organizing teaching activities.
• Developing field on compilation, translation and research
• Conducting short-term and long-term professional courses in the capacity building of lecturers.
• Publication of research papers

• The research articles of three professors have been published.
• 60 students have been graduated.
• According to the plan of the Ministry of Higher Education, the exams have been conducted on time.
• There has been development in teaching materials.
• Lecturers have actively participated in university and faculty committees.
